I don’t think anyone has had bigger success with a single song in 2017 than Luis Fonsi has with Despacito featuring Justin Bieber. The track made Billboard history, staying at No. 1 for 16 straight weeks and making it the most weeks spent at No.1 ever together with Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s One Sweet Day. To top that off, it is also now the most watched YouTube in the website’s history and has transported Latin music to 2017’s hottest mainstream breakout genre and the Latin world rejoiced.
Now, Puerto Rican Luis Fonsi is back with a new single with none other than Demi Lovato. Échame La Culpa (“Put The Blame On Me”) is a Reggaeton-laden track sang both in Spanish and in English talking about lovers taking blame for an ended relationship instead of accusing the other and ending in a compromise to stay together. According to Genius, “the music video broke the Latin 24 hour record, by garnering over 17 million views on YouTube, marking Fonsi’s second hit in 2017.”
It’s safe to say that Luis Fonsi is a household name we won’t forget anytime soon; he just received 4 Latin Grammy Awards (Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Urban Fusion/Performance and Best Shot Form Music Video).
