Young Fathers Return With New Track, Album News, And Tour Announcement

Written by Jack Andrew Cribb

Edinburgh contemporary hip-hop trio Young Fathers have released the first track from their upcoming album.

The track, Lord, comes as the newest release since Young Fathers contributed to the Trainspotting sequel T2′s soundtrack.

The group took to Twitter to announce their new album, which will be their third since their debut Dead, released in 2014, stating ‘it’s about fucking time’. Lord represents the quintessential Young Fathers sound, group choral vocals, dark and filmic synthscapes, and sweet and emotional piano melodies.

The current video for the track is a still background, featuring the words “Young Fathers have finished a new album. We hope you hear it sometime in the near future, for now here is a song, a song called LORD. You can’t dance to it.” They are right, you can’t dance to it. But that doesn’t make it less beautiful.

As well as the new release, the trio have also announced that they will be touring the UK in 2018, the dates of which can be seen below.

Young Fathers 2018 Tour Dates:
03/20 – Birmingham, UK @ O2 Institute 2
03/21 – London, UK @ Roundhouse
03/22 – Bristol, UK @ Trinity Centre
03/23 – Manchester, UK @ O2 Ritz
03/24 – Glasgow, UK @ Barrowland Ballroom
