New York alternative rockers Brand New have revealed when they shall call it a day.
The band have always hinted at a breakup, releasing merchandise such as t-shirts bearing the dates ‘2000-2018’. They had also announced that their fifth album Science Fiction, which was released in August, would be their last.
At a recent show, frontman Jesse Lacy told the crowd “We’re gonna be a band for about 14 more months, so thank you so much for being here tonight.”, which you can see below.
Two years ago, at a show in Nashville, Tennessee, Lacey revealed “I’m gonna have a new daughter. We’ll hopefully have a record for you. I wanna tell you right here and now, this isn’t gonna last much longer, but it’s been so special for so long. For as long as it does last, we’re so grateful to you all for being here.”
Science Fiction, which was the band’s first release since their 2009 album, Daisy, reached number one in the US, the first alternative release to top the chart since Frank Ocean’s Blonde in 2016.
Brand New will be playing three shows in the UK and Ireland next month, which you can see below.
