Glowrogues are a Manchester-based collective led by Jim Molyneux. Hip Hop, Funk and Jazz is weaved into a tapestry that oozes heady ambient pop and tight horn-filled choruses. Players in the collective bring vast experience from the jazz and folk scenes having appeared with The Old Dance School, Apes Grapes, SKELTR, ELDA and the Mancunian jazz juggernauts Beats and Pieces Big Band.
Drawing on their inspiration from artists such as The Cinematic Orchestra, Snarky Puppy and The Robert Glasper Experiment, you can really hear how the musicians have worked to create a mainstream appealing bit of music but stay true to some of the core of the genres involved.
The band will be touring their GLOWROGUES – Live At Jazz Plus Present album which was first recorded during their set at Notting Hill Arts Club with the album brimming with an energy that s bound to get any crowd moving.
This album will be the first release on the new Jazz Plus label and if this is anything to go by, it is fair to say that the guys in charge are onto a winner and can start to breakout more and more young jazz musicians around the country.
