Jessie Ware Adopts Latin Vibes On New Release ‘Egoísta’

Written by Alessa Frenkel

Latin music is the breakout genre of 2017 with reggaeton beats, Spanish lyrics and remixes popping off everywhere (thank you Lui Fonsi and Justin Bieber). The next one in line to follow is none other than British R&B/soul singer Jessie Ware who just dropped her fresh single Egoísta via Island Records. The track is in fact the Spanish version of her song Selfish Love that came out in August.

Egoísta is a modern bossa nova tune underlined with a seductive guitar riff and a beat that sounds like the lovechild of Latin music and reggae. Top it off with Ware’s silky espagnol and you’ve got a track that transports you away to a different dimension. Seeing as her previous song Midnight was filmed on the island of Mallorca, it seems as though the London native is enjoying exploring Latin culture.

While Selfish Love is a sneak peak of Jessie’s upcoming album Glasshouse (PMR/Friends Keep Secrets/Interscope) that is set to drop October 20th, Egoísta just purely serves a bonus for our enjoyment. Previously having dropped Midnight, Alone and the names of her collaborators, the album proves to be one to mark your calendars for: Benny Blanco, Ed Sheeran, Cashmere Cat – need I say more? But even more than that, Glasshouse promises to be raw and honest and comes after a three-year hiatus in which she also had her first child in 2016: “It became an album for my husband and my baby. It’s an apology, a confession, a love note, a declaration. It shows all my fears and all of my emotion.”
