Dublin’s NC Grey Makes Debut With Brilliant ‘Magic The EP’

Written by Rahoul Naik

Dublin-based British Nigerian singer and songwriter NC Grey has released her debut project Magic The EP.

Written by NC Grey, and her guitarist Darren Bell, alongside veteran Irish producers Arad Studios, who have worked with some of Ireland’s finest indie musicians, Magic The EP is the perfect blend of Soul, Jazz and R&B music, masterfully underpinned by NC Grey’s enchanting vocals and songwriting.

From the EP’s exciting Jazz-influenced opening track Holiday, and its lead single Adonis, which is already garnering critical acclaim across Irish radio, to the soulful piano ballad Toxic Love about a seemingly ‘picture-perfect’ relationship gone wrong, and the EP’s love-affirming title track, with its glorious string and guitar arrangements, Magic The EP is a short but sweet and eclectic 4-track offering, which makes for an excellent listening experience, from start to finish.

NC Grey is revered across Ireland’s live music and festival circuits, with critically acclaimed performances at Cork Jazz Festival, Body & Soul Festival and the Africa Day Festival among others, already under her belt, and strong support from Ireland’s biggest radio tastemakers including RTE2FM, RTE Pulse and Dublin City Radio, to mention a few.

Speaking about the inspiration behind Magic The EP, NC Grey says, “My goal with ‘Magic The EP’ was to be vulnerable. To let myself show the different stages I’ve been at personally: the love, excitement, pain and uncertainty, and to create something that lyrically, everyone can relate to. A mentor once said to me, ‘I want to feel what your feeling through your music’, and I’ve taken that on board for this project. I want my listeners to get lost in the sound and FEEL the feeling”.

We thing NC has done a great job on her first project and it will act as a perfect business card and introduction for new listeners around the globe. Check out the EP below and follow NC Grey here.
