The Magic Gang Gear Up For Tour With Sundara Karma

Written by James Crossan

The Magic Gang will be joining Sundara Karma for their Autumn UK Tour.

After a manic summer which has saw them appear at Glastonbury, Y Not Festival and Tramlines, The Magic Gang could be forgiven for putting their feet up for a while. The Brighton based quartet have shot to fame in recent times, gaining over 5 million streams on Spotify from just three EPs. Their latest single, Your Love, had its first play on MistaJam’s Radio 1 show, and was subsequently playlisted by the station. They’re continuing their summer with an equally hectic autumn schedule, supporting Sundara Karma on their UK tour.

It’s difficult to pin down exactly what genre The Magic Gang fall into. Lead singer Kristian Smith has vocal similarities to Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard, but their sound as a band is closer to pop from a bygone era. However, this is by no means a criticism – the biggest music critics in the world are queuing up to heap praise on them. Comparisons have ranged from “The very best pop groups from the 1960s, such as Avi Buffalo and The Smith Westerns” from Noisey, to “A distinctly British take on the slacker pop sound of the likes of Mac Demarco and Weezer” from NME.

After beginning 2017 being named on Apple Music’s New Artists 2017 and VEVO’s dscvr lists, they’re ending it as a well-established act in British indie pop. Tickets are still available for their upcoming shows with Sundara Karma:

3rd – Manchester, Academy

4th – Coventry, The Empire

5th – London, O2 Academy Brixton

6th – Liverpool, Guild of Students

7th – Sheffield, The Plug

Be sure to check out one of the most eclectic sounds in new indie pop if you can and keep your eyes peeled for your GIGWATCH of their Sheffield date very soon!
