Macklemore has flirted between the lines of hip-hop, rap and pop for a long time now, coming to prominence with songs like Thrift Shop and Downtown. His newest joint, Marmalade is again set perfectly between some new-age hip-hop like KYLE and Macklemore’s more pop sounding tracks with Ryan Lewis.
Talking about the new album to Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show, Macklemore said “I always try to get a different pallet of sounds and textures and vibes. This album, I was in a good place man… for the most part, if I’m in a happy place and life is good, that’s going to be reflected in the music.”
With new music on the way after a very solid year for hip-hop and rap, Macklemore’s upcoming album will look to sit itself somewhere comfortably in the niche he has managed to carve for himself so masterfully.
We will let the track do the rest of the work for us.
