Road To Global 12: Two Cities One World

Written by Eli Sulaiman

We’re gearing up for one of the biggest highlights to Summer 2017: The Global 12 Festival. The festival is run by Shodement, who focus on the creation of the future music industry and development of artists emerging in the current space. Since launching, the talent network has grown to over 3 million combined views around the world and its creative agency arm has executive on the platform that delivered campaigns for major brands including Vogue, Adidas, Universal Music, Sony Music and SBTV.

In the evening of the festival, 12 artists from around the world will be performing, or I should say, competing to become Global Artist of the Year. Frequency 21 will be introducing all twelve in the months running up to event. Today it is my pleasure to introduce you to one of the acts who will be performing at Global 12: Two Cities One World.

Two Cities One World is a band of two, Anna and Jared, and their band name has a story. It all began when Anna and Jared met in LA at the world famous contemporary music college Musicians Institute. Anna is from Sofia, Bulgaria (Eastern Europe) and Jared is from St. Louis, Missouri in the US. The two met at school and quickly started dating. They attended many seminars together and it led to them writing 10 songs together. Writing those 10 songs was what created the band. It was a commitment to work as one instead of individual artists. Five of those ten songs can be heard here.

Jared says the name Two Cities One World is because “she is from Sofia and I am from St. Louis. Now it’s not only a name, but a lifestyle. We travel back and forth a lot and “live” in both places.”

TCOW’s musical inspirations right now include: Jacob Collier, Stevie Wonder, Victor Wooten and the whole Wooten family, D’angelo, Esparanza Spalding, Jose James, Hiatus Kaiyote, Michael Jackson, Jackson 5 and Corrine Baily Rae.

Speaking on the goal of their music and creativity, TCOW told us that “our aim is to create authentic art. Our intention is to inspire the world to be authentic and for each individual to reach their true potential while spreading love, peace and joy around the world. We do this with one of the greatest forces in nature. Music.”

If you look further into their bank of music, you’ll notice there are a few songs not in English. It’s actually Anna’s native language, Bulgarian. TCOW has a big audience in Bulgaria and they actually lived there together for three years.
Jared and Anna comments, “Two Cities One World. More like two countries. Bulgaria and the USA. It’s all about unity though. Check our logo and see what you think!”
