Anik Khan may not necessarily be a name that many R&B and Hip-Hop fans are already acquainted with, however the Queens native has been making moves for around 2 years with his first EP I Don’t Know Yet really bringing Khan to the forefront of the New York music scene.
Following up from his Bryson Tiller meets The Weeknd single Habibi, we now get a real peek into the upcoming project with title track Kites.
The new single, is a much more stripped back song that sees a plucking guitar and Khan’s voice really take centre stage, something we’re hearing less of in the nu-R&B wave right now. As the lazy drum beat kicks in, you can’t help but bob your head to beat as Khan sings of his trouble of “hanging on by a thread“.
The well-meaning metaphor throughout this song may actually provide a rather poignant backdrop to the singer’s debut album and one that may allow him to really explore and experiment as he fully introduces his sound to the world.
The album is set to drop on April 28th and you can pre-order it here.
