Michael Kiwanuka Is Bold, Brave And Beautiful On New ‘Cold Little Heart’ Video

Written by Kelsey Raynor

Lifted from his multiple award nominated and chart-topping second album Love & Hate, Michael Kiwanuka is pleased to have disclosed the video for his latest single Cold Little Heart.

Kiwanuka’s latest single is currently being used as the theme tune for HBO’s ‘Big Little Lies’ which stars Alexander Skarsgard, Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon.

Meanwhile, the video that accompanies the single stars fast-rising US actor Keith Stanfield (the guy from Get Out and Selma) and is directed by David Helman whom has worked with artists such as The Weeknd, Gucci Mane and Glass Animals.

David Helman himself has said “Since the narrative is rooted in grief and centres around the loss of a father figure from the perspective of a young teenager, I knew we needed to cast someone who would emotionally connect with our audience on an emotional level.

He continues with “Lakeith has been a close friend who has continued to inspire me with both his talent, but also his genuine curiosity. You can easily spend hours talking to Lakeith about almost anything and expand your perspective on everything from religion to Death Grips.”

I write this concept with Lakeith in mind from the start because every time we’ve worked together he’s always willing to make himself vulnerable and he’s absolutely fearless in front of the camera.”

Michael Kiwanuka’s acclaimed second album, which received an unimaginable response from critics worldwide upon release, is Love & Hate. Since its release, it has been nominated for Album of the Year at The BRIT awards and Michael himself was also nominated for Best British Male at the NME awards earlier this year.

One to be watched for, Kiwanuka is becoming one of the most renowned artists of this generation.
