VANT will be gracing Manchester’s Gorilla on March 1st (Wednesday) whilst on their UK Tour.
It’s been a big couple of years for VANT. The band, formed by frontman and songwriter Matty Vant in 2014, seemed to blow up from nowhere. A plethora of tracks were picked up by Radio One’s Annie Mac as her ‘Hottest record in the world’, and they’ve gone from supporting Royal Blood to becoming a must-see festival act in their own right.
2016 saw them play Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds and the legendary Fuji Rock festival in Japan, as well as joining juggernauts Biffy Clyro and Catfish and the Bottlemen for one off dates.
VANT’s music is infectious. Their hooks have a way of latching on inside the brain, in a way that may make some people gloss over the lyrical content. A closer listen will reveal that Matty Vant is a young man with a lot to say for himself.
The band class themselves as being residents of Planet Earth – no nation in particular – and touch on conscious subjects from climate change to globalisation. This isn’t landfill indie – not by a long stretch.
Strong riffs and a tendency towards lo-fi production make me think of the early days of The Strokes. It’s feel good music with a serious edge. We’re excited to see these songs played live, and you should be too.
The band’s debut album, Dumb Blood, has received a great amount of attention all over the world and alongside their single Do You Know Me?, has been tormenting radio airwaves and charts all over the UK, something which is a testament to the rather young band.
The band have been touring since the release of their album and you can catch them at the following stops:
Wednesday March 1st Manchester, Gorilla
Thursday March 2nd Sheffield Plug
Friday March 3rd Birmingham, O2 Institute 2
Saturday March 4th Swansea, Sin City
