Classic Man, the signature hit from Wisconsin-Born, Nigeria-raised rapper Jidenna, is about to turn two years old. What better way to celebrate than dropping a new track?
He has remained relevant as one of music’s political voices (and as an actor), but still hasn’t had a hit as a lead artist since 2015’s Classic Man, a project that grasped the attention of many, including Kendrick Lamar who produced and featured in a remix later that year.
However, earlier this month (February 3rd) the rapper announced on Instagram that The Chief, his long-delayed debut LP named after his rap anthem Long Live The Chief, will drop February 17. In anticipation of this, as if to reward his fans for their unquestionable patience he released The Let Out.
The song, similar to that of Big Sean’s Bounce Back, is definitely a ‘grower’ and is being praised by the majority. It will be interesting to see if the eagerly awaited album replicates the success of his works mentioned above and whether it shows a new side to the Nigerian rapper. Regardless, Jidenna is back and, after a seemingly endless hiatus, is ready to compete with the likes of Big Sean, Drake and Travis Scott come February 17th.
