Paigey Cakey Gives Her Take On Female Empowerment With ‘Boyfriend’

Written by Rahoul Naik

Paigey Cakey has just dropped her most recent effort, Boyfriend and it’s a story of big drinks, big cars and hard bars.

This track is on the shorter side of things, clocking in at just 2 minutes and 23 seconds, however the visuals will make you think that it is something out of the latest film; professional is the word that comes to mind.

The hook, “I don’t need a boyfriend / I need a real flashy car like the boydem” seems to be some sort of chant that will echo with many women when it comes to being ‘independent’. Beyond this, bars like “The only thing that I bang is the Cillit” and “I hate when they say I think I’m too nice” show how she’s adamant to stay true to herself and encourages other women to do the same.

2016 has seen Paigey at her best and without the distractions of acting. The Red EP is Paigey’s latest project and features the likes of Geko and Frisco. Some may say that the EP slipped under the radar, but the EP is pure fire and set Paigey up for the landslide of singles that were to come after.

Boogie, Pattern and Let’s Get ‘Em Drunk all precede Boyfriend and we would be surprised if Paigey wasn’t gearing up for another project in the New Year.

In the meantime, check out Boyfriend below.
