In anticipation of his new album dropping on the 25th of November, the Weeknd satisfied fan’s appetites with the release of two tracks off the 18 track album, titled Party Monster and I Feel It Coming.
Party Monster represents a great balance between his ‘old’ and ‘new’ sounds. It’s got lyrics that sound like they wouldn’t be out of place on Trilogy, but they’re delivered at a faster pace, with a stronger backing track behind them; the increased presence of drums has not gone unnoticed. It’s sinister sounding and represents something that we’ve not seen from the Weeknd in a long time.
The latter, I Feel It Coming with Daft Punk is one of several amazing features on the album, others being Kendrick Lamar and Lana Del Rey. The Weeknd spares no punches with this and makes a lasting impression on the track from the offing with a funky beat in the background. It’s in a similar vein to Cant Feel My Face and just as repetitive, but it’s just a nicer track to listen to, no doubt Daft Punk will have helped with this. The song will be appreciated more if listening to his whole album in one sitting as some of the titles of the other tracks suggest there’s going to be some slow/deep tracks, so this will come as refreshing, a palate cleanser if you will.
The release date is coming very soon and we can see this selling millions in a jiffy.
