Bob Dylan Finally Accepts 2016 Nobel Prize for Literature

Written by Leah Bennett

Bob Dylan has finally spoken out about receiving the Nobel Prize for Literature after an initial two weeks of ‘silence’ following the announcement on Thursday 13th October.

It has been said that the Swedish Academy were trying to contact Dylan for five days about the award and gave up.

In an interview with The Times, on being asked if he would be attending the ceremony in Sweden this December, Dylan replied “Absolutely… if it’s at all possible”.

According to the academy, Dylan is receiving the award “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.

Whether Bob Dylan is prepared to accept the reward or not, it is clear that he deserves it for his commitment to great music and his potent lyrics that are hugely influential both past and present.
