Adele and Ed Sheeran are two of the shortlisted artists in the running to be named Song of the Year at the 2016 BMI London Awards. The award ceremony will be held on 10th October and will be held at The Dorchester Hotel in London.
But, who is worthy of taking the title from Sam Smith (winning the Song of the Year title in 2015 with his hit song Stay With Me.)
Adele has been nominated for her 2015 comeback song Hello. The song marked the songstress’ return which debuted at number one on the UK Official Charts and the Billboard Hot 100; dominating once again. Ed Sheeran is another big name who has been nominated for this award. However, Ed has not only been nominated once, he has had two song nominated, both Photograph and Thinking Out Loud. Both the nominated songs for Ed Sheeran have been massive hits and are both amongst the favourites to win the title.
George Ezra, Ellie Goulding and Liam O’Donnell complete the British writers in the shortlist – being nominated for the songs Budapest, On My Mind and Uma Thurman respectively.
Finally, Karen Ørsted (aka MØ) is up for the award for the summer sensation Lean On performed alongside Major Lazer and DJ Snake.
May the best writer win!
